Qualifications: Level 3 Forest School Leader & Mum!

Hello! I’m Harriet and I began working with children in my early twenties by teaching English asa second language with little learners up to tall teenagers. With this teaching qualification under my belt, I went on to travel and experienced life in other cultures in countries such as Peru and Indonesia.

Having a love for working with young learners, yet a growing desire to be outdoors, surrounded by nature, I took a turn away from English Language to learning and developing myself and my knowledge supported by the natural world around us. I have recently completed my level 3 Forest School Leader Training and now with the certificate finished I am ready to fly!

I feel passionately about the need for children to spend time in a natural outdoor environment especially as our society today draws the young generation indoors more and more. Our beautiful natural world desperately needs protecting and children need to spend time in it to love it then to protect it.

In my time as a Forest School Leader I have observed how the magic of simply being outdoors has profound positive impacts for ALL children in giving them confidence and independence.

From building dens and dams the children are developing their social and communication skills to climbing trees and using tools such as knives and saws builds children's confidence and trust in themselves and each other. This of course is on top of a whole lot of fun!
